Was there today, the ice is better at cj than salmon dam.

How was the catching though? I know the fishing is always fine. I was thinking about heading out tomorrow.

Does anyone fish down below the dam this time of year?

yes. there were a few rigs down there today. we left the ice around noon, due to the wind. it started off a great morning, but boy that wind had other plans. pretty consistent bite all morning. if the fish were bigger we would have stayed. not worth fighting that wind for the size we were getting.
was anyone else out there this morning? what did you think of that incident with the ice? sounded like a bomb going off and you could feel it. kind of funny to hear all the gasps and everyone just froze. lol!! was pretty eerie. never heard/felt something like that before. for those concerned with ice conditions, we figured it was about 9" where we were. if the guy that came over and drilled our holes is on here (tim), thanks again!! we didn't have a gas auger and he just walked over and said where do you want your holes and how many! awesome guy. I'd say average size was 6". caught one decent trout. the guy that drilled our holes caught a really nice trout. I'd say around 21". cut bait is the ticket. stay about a foot off the bottom. hopefully you won't have the wind, but it's strike...who knows.

Castmaster, sweedish pimples with cut bait. I was using 32oz collerd jig with worm or meal worm or grub or bare. I also had a dropshot with the same bait. All seemed to work but were all 8 or less. Also around 16 ft'.

I was there today for the 1st time. Like has been stated it started off beautiful and then the wind from hell came up. It snapped my ice tent ropes and ripped a couple seems. Thanks to the guys who helped get that tent under control. My son and I were blown off our feet and drug down the ice by my parasail/ice tent.
We kept 40 perch 35 of them were 6-9"ers five of them were 10"ers. No jumbos but a good perch chowder all the same. Sorry the wind kept me from going around and being sociable. The ice was getting scary around the ramp at 3pm. I wouldn't try getting on in the dark. Windriver [signature]

Was anyone out at strike today? I am planning on giving it a try tomorrow unless the ice is not holding up. I've never been there before so any tips are appreciated. Thanks for the report Windriver!

I can't believe every thing I read online. So when someone says it's good. I'd rather hear it from a person and not just someone making up a recipe. Thank you very much and I'll give it a shot! Does it work for walleye?

Well the ice is holding up well. A solid 9 inches where I was fishing. Nash (my golden retriever) and I had a fun day catching perch and a lone rainbow. The fish were super aggressive and very easy to catch. The only hard part is wading through the little guys. Tight lines,

Windriver[/quote] Wind from hell [] Wait until your in a float tube or a pontoon and that light breeze comes up. Last summer a dandy wind came up and I had to oar to the bank. I was rowing so hard in 3 foot waves I broke my seat mount on my boat. Ron [signature] |
