Mackay
#1
Had a great time catching 8" kokanee yesterday. Started fishing at 7:30 but the fish didn't really get started until around 9. We were in 25 fow, let the bait hit the bottom then jig, reel, jig, reel and you could watch the school follow your bait all the way up! Most were caught in the top 10ft. Landed between 45-50 of them along with a couple of 14" rainbows. Kept a limit, tried forever to get the larger kokes to bite but the smaller ones were too quick. Still lots of fun and those small ones still taste great!![cool]

That sounds like an awful lot of fun! I haven't been up to Mackay in a couple years - last time ChrisTheFish & I hit a deer on the way up there and still had a KILLER time (pun intended). How thick is the ice up there? I've only had a lowly hand auger and that foot thick plus ice sure tests my manliness (or exposes the lack thereof in most cases).

Thx, I think it was your report that caused me to head that direction. We were just south of all the permanent shelters-like 50ft away. Ice was 26"thick so ya, hand auger would be rough! I'll make sure to post pics next time for sure.
