Fished Clark Canyon yesterday from noon until almost midnight. Seven of us and we only caught 2 rainbows and 4 ling. My Dad caught the biggest rainbow and the biggest ling. 20 1/2" on the rainbow and 28 on the ling. It was fun, however the fishing was SLOW. All the locals we talked to say its been a lousy winter so far. Jared Scott was part of our group, he will have our Clark trip on his show along with some footage from Chesterfield from last week in the next couple of weeks, keep an eye out for it. Best part about the trip was eating the Ling, they are as good as everyone claims.

Thanks for the report. Catching a big burbot like that would be a thrill. Great photos, especially the light on the rainbow, but my favorite was the fried fillets. It's good to hear that they taste 100x better than they look.

I appreciate this report I soooooo want to catch a ling and I either want to go to Clark or FG. I just took some kokes off the grill and I looked at your deep fry; I never thought salmon would look less appealing!

Felt like taking a drive over there from Salmon but the steelie fishing has been so consistent its hard to break away to go fish the hard deck. Sure would like to catch a ling though. I've never caught one before and I hear they are excellent on the dinner table.

When I went we fished to the west of the big island off of some rocky points. 25 feet to the bottom. Jared Scott went back up there the following weekend and they caught a bunch of ling. They fished somewhere around the island and deeper at 45 feet. They all caught their limit and turned many more back. They fished somewhere else (shallower part of the lake) during the day for trout and didn't have any luck. His show this coming Sunday will be Clark canyon, so set your DVR. if I was headed up there I wouldn't even bother until night fall and find some 45 feet deep rocky areas near the island or dam.

Thanks for the info. We fished last night off the west side of island. Between 5:30 and 9:30 we iced 12 Ling all with some pretty good size. The largest was 30". It was a blast! Ice is still really thick on the west side of island, maybe three feet.

MAN I hate it when TV shows publicize fishing spots. Just What Clark needs is more fishing pressure on burbot. We'll be back to 1 or 2 fish again

You guys ought to go to the gorge and get them lingcod. You can catch and keep all you want, no limit. Its only 4.5 hours from Pocatello.

Wanna know what I hate... When people are unwilling to share and get other new people into experiencing what a great thing the outdoors are and what a great way they are have family time and also a way to keep your kids out of trouble. if everybody does what they should and respects limits and laws everybody should be able to enjoy it for years for to come. and not everybody keeps a limit anyways. I generally don't ever keep fish. and I am always encouraging and telling people to get out and try to fish.
I have had the pleasure of being able to fish all over the western united states. and have caught some amazing stuff. all thanks to people advertising where to go how fish and where to fish. with out the generosity of it would be very difficult.
So on that note. I wanna say thank you Jarred Scott outdoors.

Ok, but putting fishing or hunting spots on TV only does one thing. It draws a lot of additional people to that area. Burbot are slow growing and susceptible to over fishing. It takes them 3-6 years to reach 22-23 inches. After this point its really slow growing. Some of the bigger fish are 15+.
While YOU may almost never keep fish, the vast majority of people going after burbot do in fact keep them. This isnt a large lake and Burbot arnt every where. Pretty easy to overfish them.
