old fisherman, new to site

Been fishing all my life, more so now that I'm retired [][] , 75 years young, live out of Mtn Home, love CJ and Anderson Ranch.

Welcome to the site Openfly, I see you have already found the Idaho board but there are lots of boards on BFT. Do you fish from shore, a float tube, a boat? I've been to Mountain Home many times while fishing at CJ and traveling to Bosie. Anderson Ranch is a great lake, love it's deep blue waters and kokanee[].

I have an older 18' bass boat, altho I normally don't fish for bass . At CJ, we (my wife and I) usually are fishing for pan fish, and in the spring and fall, troll for trout. At Anderson Ranch, we camp, and pull the boat behind our camping trailer, and troll for Kokanee. Low water last year made it almost impossible to launch the boat, the dock was high and dry :-( If we don't get more precipitation this year, it will be even worse I feel :-( Besides, last year the kokes were very small too.

Sounds like a lot of our local lakes around here, small kokes lately, except of course for Flaming Gorge. I'm hoping the snow fall we have had lately will continue and we can get back to some normal water levels. I mainly troll as well but noticed your username, openfly, does that mean you fly fish as well as troll?

No, I don't flyfish while I'm trolling, I do my flyfishing when we are camped along some of our favorite rivers, mainly on the South Fork of the Boise River. Years ago when I was a young dude, I had a row boat that I used on some lakes, and I would just hook on a nice fat fly and drag it behind my row boat about 100 ft, and caught a few trout that way

LOL, I guess I could have worded that better, it should have been two different statements. I was just wondering if you fly fish because we have a fly fishing section, you might be interested in.
