Yuba Ice Conditions

Heading down to Yuba tomorrow in my shorts and t-shirt!!! Has anybody been there the last few days that can give me an update on the edges. I want to take the snowmobiles. If not I will give a report tomorrow on the conditions...

It was beautiful down on Thursday little wind in the middle of the day like always. Only ran in to one big fish and 2 hammerheads out of 4 of us all day. Ice was 10" or better when you get on edges were soft 2' to 5' out. There where a few 4wheelers on ice. Maybe inch or two of slush on ice by the end of the day. O this is at painted rocks.

Thanks for the update!!!! I think we are planning on going from the Oasis side but I am sure the conditions are pretty similar. I am a first timer when it comes to ice fishing for pike so my expectations are low but I have received a lot of good information and help from reading the forums. Hopefully pics to follow!!!

Just remember the oasis side freezes later on most years, its the deepest part of the lake. I have ran my air boat down there on 14" of ice and skipped it across lots of soft or open pockets of water. But I have also seen it hold ice longer then the painted rock side on some years. I honestly think there is going to be some wheelers or sleds go through this year. Its just getting to warm and to fast, not to mention more people down there then ever before. Be safe everyone!!!!!

Well we fished Yuba yesterday!!! Went to both sides and there was definately water around both access points. We took a couple 2x12s to access the lake. Took the sleds but no way was I going to be the first to send one into the lake. The ice was pretty thick but seemed really soft. Very interesting conditions!!! I would hope that it will get cold enough to freeze up again but I don't see that happening
