bass in between storms
#1
Felt good to get the bass boat out up here even if it was only for a few hours in between storms. caught this one and after realizing i left my phone in the truck tucked her in the live well and found someone kind enough to snap a picture or two before running her back to where she came.

That is a great way to kick off the year. My doctor would say that fish is morbidly obese.[Wink] Way to go!

not a lure or braid just some debris. It came out of some heavy fragmites.

Look at that tail, damn near rubbed off...I would have to say the spawn is on down there? What lake/reservoir?

Look closely at the bass's color and markings. It's easy to see that it came from………..it's no big secret lol. That tail looks like someone before this angler did an illegal fin clip just to see if they could catch the fish again. The fin is partially healed. A male bass bites only the bottom half of the tail during the spawn when he beats up the wife. Her anal and pelvic fins are not red or frayed……..she is pre spawn. She hasn't let out a single egg yet. This lake is not warm enough for spawning yet even in certain "warmer water" areas. I can see the bottom half of the tail missing as scars from previous years males but not the top half of the tail.

It's definitely from Salem Pond. No two ways about it. It got that big from feeding on planter trout and fireworks hulls. We named it Stanley. Thought it was a dude. [Wink]

(and, yes, I have seen 8 lb bass caught out of Salem. Never been lucky enough to get one though.)

It was a hair over 8. I was fishing a prototype lure from moreau baits. The owner is a good friend if mine . As far as the tail being like that I've got some like that before with some of those bigger ones. May even have a picture or two. I'd have to look. I don't take many pictures
