Hungry Hungry Carpos
#1
You may have heard of the game "Hungry Hungry Hippos", here's a new twist.

Looks like some dark muddy water, but look again. Talk about stacked up thick. Pass the Aunt Jemima!

Yote how big were they? I can't tell if they are minnows or you were high up. Pretty cool. Later J

I was high up - they are full grown pigs, various sizes, but you know how carp are - 20" is a teen-er.

Duckaholic - PM coming.

Crap, I was looking for some carp for bait before I headed out today and never found any. Had to use worms and fatheads.

That reminds me of a time I went to WB years ago. I can't remember the exact month. But it was around spring. We drove around the south an west dyke stoping here an there. Every spot we stoped, we could see these big 10' pods of carp just like you'd see a school of bait fish, just all together like cloud of baitfish. And these were your average carp 15 - 18" carp. We didn't even end up fishing that day. We went for wiper but descided there was just to many carp to even try. Is this the time they spawn? Because I've seen them stacked up at other waters in june. Just not like we saw on willard. Crazy stacks of carp!

You might say I was on a bridge over troubled water.

Lava, you're right, and M-80 would be entertaining too (not that I'm suggesting, or condoning)
Bit far for a bow shot, at least with the string.

Is more of a lunch line than a spawn thing. But I have seen pods of spawners doing the humpback lambada later in the summer.

Plenty of cutbait to be had gm. I've got some frozen strips and chunks, and bunches of minnows, you're welcome to some anytime.

I've found hoardes of gizzard shad in this pool before. Typically baby bluegill, sunfishhide Iin the rocks.

I caught a bunch of bluegill there about a month ago. Have you noticed the spring that comes in right there is fairly warm water?

Once as a crazy teenager I tried shooting carp in a small stream with a 12 gauge (not sure if it was illegal back then or not) and unless they are right on the surface the pellets don't touch them.

I took a 10lb carp a couple years ago that was swimming with my decoys, he didn't make it Smile

icefishingman - I didn't say, and it's not a lake.

Butley - glad you know, now hush! (hotspotting rule).
Welcome aboard, and you're fine. I prefer not to out this spot, though I know I'm not the only angler there (definite call-signs left behind).
Find some with any size to em? I've had to go farther down for that, but as many Sunfish as I've met, don't seem to get into any over a 6-incher.

It was cold and windy as a witche's... and I did realize how warm that water was when I plunked a hand in for a rinse. Don't think I'd noticed that before. It's interesting to have such clear water next to such chocolate murk churned up like Wonkas waterfall. I was thinking it was just filtered through rocks from above, but maybe it is more of a spring.

Always hoped there might be Walleye poking around for a feast the way the carp queue up. No such luck so far. Been interesting to see high and low waters - and clarify changes to know whats down under. I understand better why certain casts ALWAYS hang up.

There must be something amazing in there if you're not telling us where a place that's obviously carp infested is [Tongue]

CoyoteSpinner-I like to keep certain spots hush hush too and I know the hotspotting rule so I won't spill the beans.

I was hoping for a Walleye too with no luck. I only caught the gills to keep the skunk off and they were all small. I have caught a lot of other kinds of fish there (not carp or yellowbellies) but I don't want to give any hints to the spot so we will have to talk about that another day.

Been lurking a long time to the sight thought its time I join, thanks for the welcome.

The carp think there is anyway. And they are smart!
It's like one of them mystery bags, you reach in an grab, but never quite sure what you'll find. This was anther outing. Name that fish, and no I didn't "possess" it, before anyone wants to give me carp.

that really is unreal. More loaded/dense in that spot than not the tank at cabelas but the other spot with fish in it. [fishon]
