Minersville has regulations to help protect fish, those regulations tend to keep most people who harvest, away. Of course you would point out that Minersville has a liberal limits and still produces abundant large fish. But fail to mention that the actual harvest rates associated with those liberal limits is probably far closer to 0% than any other number. Sounds like a tactic bassrods would pull. No wonder you guys argue so much, you're just like each other.

capt. -- you also need to keep in mind that a very high percentage of the harvest that happened, and still happens today, is from BIRDS, not humans. So while humans may not be doing any harvest, birds continue to harvest at a high rate -- just go count how many cormorants are resident at that reservoir (do you know how many fish a cormorant will eat every day??)! Harvest continues to play a significant role at Minersville even with restrictive regulations to prevent humans from harvesting the trout.
(maybe we should transplant some cormorants to Jordanelle??)
I suspect that when the DWR completes the same spring netting at Otter Creek Reservoir that we'll also see some big smb.

utahduck -- you may believe that to be true, but I don't. The last couple years at Newcastle have been amazing for both trout and smb. Wipers compliment the smb. They have nearly removed the golden shiners, which is a good thing any way you look at it. This helps both the smb and trout. The same thing will happen at Minersville -- the wipers should reduce the chubs and leave more available for both trout and smb.

Don't forget the birds eat the chubs too. I watch the cormorant and pelicans from the porch with the spotting scope.
They work together to push the chubs up against the shore and really target them some times.
But ye the birds choke down some really big fish too.
Not many people fishing bass at Minersville keep them.
I am hoping for some heavy spring rains to bring what little snow we have down all at once.
They will start taking water in a few days. Same old story at Minersville. Getting by the summer on a hope and a prayer.
Seen a 27 inch rainbow at Minersville last week.
