Sand Hollow/ Quail
#1
Finally, I bought an aluminum fishing boat. I teach high school shop and would like to take it somewhere next week while I have spring break.

Has anyone fished Sand Hollow or Quail lately? I have never fished at either. Are they generally windy places?

I love to fish for bass or trout.. Just looking for some guidance. I don't have days off often.

Thanks.

Both of those reservoirs have not really turned on yet. This storm/low temps wont help much either. We need the weather and water to warm up a little more. It can definitely be windy down there, but the forecast doesnt show much wind coming, just cooler temps for the next 5-6 days. I personally like fishing sand hollow better. Better numbers for me there on the LMB. Quail does have some huge bass though, but overall a tougher place to fish, IMO.

At Sand Hollow, as the water temperature gets out of the 40's and gets into the mid to upper 50's, the fishing starts to get awesome. The LMB will come out of the deeps and head for the shore where the warmer water is.

Here is the number for the park office there: 435-680-0715. They can tell you the current water temp.

It has been a cool week here in St. George with lots of wind so the water Temp. is going to stay around 50 all week with a warm up next week.

Thanks for the info --- on my trip up there I went thru the gate to the first parking lot and worked my way(bank tangling) west toward the first rock outcropping hoping for deeper water .Is that a decent spot? not asking for secret spots or anything, just some help for a newbie.Thanks,again.

I have been mostly fishing Quail Creek but the last time I was at Sand Hollow I found bass in 30 ft water in the south west part of the lake.
