Diamond Fork 4/4
#1
Rough day on the DF. Fished from about 1130 to 330. Water was a little fast, but still pretty clear. Only managed to bring in two for the day. One took a gunslinger, the other hit a hare's ear. A spill into the water ended the day a little early. Just as well I guess, I wasn't exactly tearing it up. Anybody else have better luck on the DF lately?

When it fishes that slow this time of year I always abandon it for a try at Thistle.
Despite DF being spotty I always hit it first. I use tungsten BH nymphs but do whatever it takes to get that nymph down low. If you're not bouncing over rocks at the bottom in the deeper holes you're too high. Try a large (size 10 or larger) flashy prince nymph next time. It was always outproduces any other nymph for me there except when stones and salmonflies are coming off when it holds it's own. I've only had 1 descent afternoon there in my 3 outings in the past month but that is par for course.
