Looks like F&G wants in on the action.

I seen that the other day. It sounds like they will be screening and editing the entries before they are posted. Time will tell if it catches on. They still got a link for BFT on the page. Never been happy with the fishing reports on the F&G site but I'm not sure I like the idea of my $$ being spent managing such a thing. I'm more interested in what the wardens are actually seeing in the field than peoples reports.

I agree. My guess is they want to generate enough traffic to get some income from it. We'll see how it goes.

IMHO private unverified reports crosses the line on a government web site. I too want to get reports from the F&G employees as to what they are seeing and what the creel sample numbers are. Opinion and hearsay . . .
not so much. [Image: whistle.gif]

I agree, somewhat. Money generated by F&G could be spent in better ways, but this would be cheaper than having their people fill out reports on every fishing hole across the state.
I think they are just trying to generate more traffic on their website, and promote fishing(license sales), all in one place.

As for the accuracy of the fishing reports, I'm willing to bet any website can't guarantee a fishing report is accurate.
Fishing conditions can change in a moment- there's no guarantee that the fishing will be the same in an hour, regardless of the reporter's accuracy.

My point exactly. I have no problem with that possibility on open fishing forums but I expect actual data from the F&G.web site.[Image: dumb.gif]

Just like any site, the fishing reportws will only be as good/honest as the guys submitting them. I would be willing to bet people will hold out on the hot spots because they do not want to have 11,000 of their new best friends sitting on their spot, yarding in coolers full of fish the next time they head out. All that being said, any new source of info, even if it is not 100% complete or accurate, is good. You just have to weed through the BS to find the good stuff. If you know the lake (from personal experience) you should be able to determine if the info is somewhat valid or just someone blowing smoke.

I'm not exactly sure how I feel about it. Could be a good thing if they manage it correctly.

If immigration was in charge of fish, they'd be everywhere and the liberals would be giving em free stuff.

I think anything will be better than the Fish & Game telling you to check the stocking report for fishing information.

They need to do like Utah and make each region submit information from there conservation officers & biologists in the field at least twice a month. Having a site like they are talking is not any better than what we have here on BFT and it doesn't take any of our license money.[:p]
