I am lucky enough to get to drive from the Preston area to Moscow next week to pick up my daughter from u of I. This time I am going to take some time off work and fish on my way up there. My question is where would you all spend a couple of days fishing on the way? And also is there anyone who would be interested in fishing on wed or Thursday of next week? I am already planning on fishing the Columbia River with one of my buddies for sturgeon Fri and Sat. Any advice would be great. Thanks Troy

Cool. Great time of year to make the drive. Also the UI campus is incredible this time of year.
Couple questions.
Are you taking a boat?
What are you looking to catch?
Are you going up through Missoula or taking 84 to 55/95?

A couple larger lakes/reservoirs relatively close to the interstate are CJ and Walcott. They are your typical Snake River fisheries loaded with multiple species from Bass, Trout, Perch, Crappie, etc. If you can find someone willing to take you out on a boat that would probably produce the best results.
Some places I can think of to fish from shore and produce results would be Oster Ponds which are just out of Hagerman. Stocked with trout and I have seen some monsters pulled out of there. Also further north off of 55 you have Cascade Lake. Bank fishing has treated me well the last two times up with some nice limits of trout.
You can always go further on 84 and go up 95 instead. Taking that route would let you fish the Snake in several areas. You could go to Steck Park, Brownlee, etc. Also Mann Creek Reservoir is just off the highway.
Once up in Moscow you can always zip over to Spring Creek Reservoir. It is 15 minutes from town and loaded with planter rainbows. There are a few bass and some other species, but the majority of fish in there are rainbows. I did manage to catch a few bass years ago.
If you had a boat I would point you in the direction of CDA Lake and the multiple smaller lakes up in the area. Great time of year to get on the smallmouth and largemouth up there.
I am sure you will get others to chime in as well...you will have a wide variety of fisheries you can hit travelling in this great state!

I didn't even bring up anything related to salmon or steelhead. I don't follow the river flows or seasons much, but you pass through god's country in regards to salmon and steelhead in Idaho. If interested in that check conditions on the Clearwater.
They are also pulling out some nice smallmouth at Dworshak. Its a quick trip from Moscow to the Freeman Creek campground/ramp. It is possible to fish from shore in several areas.

Have you ever been 60 mph in a boat?
Have you ever caught a 4 lb smallie?
I could meet you at Walcott weds morning.
If the river comes up I'll take you to sugar cube creek on Thursday.
We'd even invite IdahoRon.

Don't forget about Lake Lowell south of Nampa. Great bass fishing, I believe it's strictly C&R right now on bass at Lowell.
