Willard 5/18/2014
#1
Hit willard for a couple of hours Sunday mid day. Seen some crappie action in the south marina so we decided to play around in there for awhile. Had a few on but lost em right at the boat. The shore anglers seemed to be fairing pretty well. Went out to the main lake and only managed to stay out about 2 hours before the wind got really annoying. We did however pick up 12 walleye 18-21" and lost almost that many. We were bottom bouncing KCT walleye spinners at 1.0-1.2mph. The hot color was definately Nickle/blue, but we also picked up fish on Nickle/chartreuse and Brass/black. We found the fish in 10-12ft of water. Glad I got some Willard out of my system before heading to Yuba for Memorial weeked, just hope the fishing's as good...[fishin]

Been wondering where you have been, keep looking for your posts to see how Willard could be at it's best... Glad to see you still have your touch for the eyes... Didn't get sucked into the wiper frenzy I see, but stuck to your forte'... Very nice outing, thanks for the report.... J

Nice collection there. These Willard reports are killing me! But it's good way to die!

Looks like you're in good company. Does she filet 'em too?

Not yet, shes new to warm water fishing, so anything beyond gutting a trout is new to her. She has taken to bottom bouncing quite well though![cool]

[#0000FF]Not age specific. Some earlier than others.

Sorry if I was out of line.

I hit Yuba this weekend, and we couldn't locate any Walleye. Trolling for the eye's brought about some action with the Pike.

Pike fishing finally picked up and we were able to do some casting action and bring in several in the 7+ pound range. Its not hot fishing but consistant enough that it made for a really fun trip.

Im not a huge fan of the pike, but a few usually make it in the boat accidently. I'll just have to see how many crawler harrnesses i donate to those toothy critters[crazy]

I have not had the best success for walleye so your expertise may prove helpful. let us know how you do and I will be rooting for you. I keep and eat every pike we land in the boat so I'm doing my part to help the walleye and perch population Smile

Thanks for posting your report and Pic Mike. I got a few of those Kokanee Creek tackle worm harnesses from Art and gave them a try yesterday. Those colors worked well but we did not have as good of luck as you did. The gold with black splatter was the most consistent but nickle with blue splatter did good as well.
