Welcome Katt!
Fished Currant Creek Saturday from 7:30 to 3:30.
Road in was plowed, but snow packed. I think you could make it up in 2WD, but I didn't see anything but 4WD outfits up there. I put it in 4wd on one of the last hills. I don't know that it was really necessary, but had someone behind me so I put it in 4WD. Don't know what the road will be like with the recent snows.
The ice was 5-6 inches thick. Center of the lake looked like it had a skiff of ice. Most folks fished within 30-40 yards of shore. I started out with a chartreuse Watta Cricket, and my son used a white one tipped with a meal worm. (Love the action from those Watta Crickets!) Soon became apparent (6-1) that white was the color they preferred so I switched to white. We fished a few inches off the bottom. Had lots of takes on the way down. Had fish following the lure right up to the hole and fish following hooked fish right up to the hole. (No sonar or shelter till Christmas[Smile]) Missed lots of sets. Had lots of fish get off after they were hooked. Guess we still have lots to learn in that department.[:/] The bite slowed down to one or two fish per hour after 12:00. Most people left by 1:00. We didn't have a better offer so we stayed till 3:30. I ended the day with 14, and my son caught 27. (Some days there is just no out catchin him![mad]) All fish were cutthroat. Lots of small ones with a few going 15-16 inches. Excellent day on the ice.
