A day of home-stuff, gardening, and digging out the boat (!) led to a late afternoon run to the marsh. Pup had been trying to climb in the car all day, so some fresh gas, and a quick pitch in Blacksmith - we packed up, headed out.
Had prepped up a new fly-setup, ready for some carp action - but the frenzy was not to be found. Calm day - they must have been "loving in the wind" that other day. Pitched and stripped for the heck of it. But no love on the biscuit.

But not 5 minutes into the first bait cast - line was peeling, and the fight was on. A burley 25" channel gave me a run for my money while I tried to get the fly rod ready. Glad my pup was watching my rod, and the holder was well set, or I'd have been saying goodbye to an ugly schtick! After a measure and photo-op for the contest, reset, and again - couldn't get to the other rigging, before game was underfoot again! Another two footer gave me play.

Thought I'd be in for a mess of action, but things quieted down, and I got the chair out, and set up proper-like for a longer haul.

I did manage a break to walk the shore, toss a biscuit, but the carp were not there to be loving it, so I returned to my setups, and set in. Seemed like I'd arrived at the end of the afternoon party. But didn't mean there weren't more dances on my card.

Pup gets SO excited when the action starts up - need to video her launching and leaping at my net when a cat is on board - funny stuff that! She tried to french kiss a kitty, and got tail-slapped for her affront!

Got pestered by a number of mudcats along the way, but still a thrill for some. After the sun-set, pulled out a glow stick, and realized my bell rig is ALSO a glow-in the dark. Nice. No late night monsters, and decided not to stay overnight. But the pup had a good venture, pop had some fun tugs, and we both went home happy.
