Um, hate to burst your bubble, but those ain't carp there! (teehee - welcome aboard, don't take me serious - most know not too!)
Looks like you're doing ok. Didya know there's a cat-contest underway? Working up a floatilla down from the Benson church to Benson launch in a couple weeks, you'd be welcome - as all are.
As for carp diversions - Bow? Another is to lose the worms and slap on bigger baits. But I'll confess - they've munched my shrimp and gone cannibalistic on me. Guess I'd just suggest - enjoy the ride, and make bait.
Nice catching. What part of the Bear do you fish? It's a big river.

I heard something about a cat contest comin up soon, where is benson? And do you have any details on registration and rules? I usually fish around the bird refuge because its close and have decent success, my usuall spot is being used as a giant carp orgy(guessing its spawning time). I use shrimp for bait mainly although i have tried just about everything. The carp dont really seem to care what it is on the end of my hook, they mess with me anyway. Where do you fish on the bear?

You might want to try minnows, the carp are less likely to pick them up. I have caught one monster carp on a carp minnow, but its typically bass and cats that grab a minnow. Using fatheads this year because I couldn't find the carp last fall. Good luck and welcome. J
