Carp Spwan

Looks like the carp have started spwanning at the Provo boat harbor. They are wreaking havoc along the shorelines, tearing up the bass and crappie nests, with those big bodies and tails.

Cant stand them, messin up my cat fishin in the bear river, got a great cat hole and the carp are for the moment using it to spawn

I have decided something I want to get into is bowfishing. Having seen the carp at Willard, I think it would be lots of fun, plus good for the environment!

Last time I was out (last Tuesday), the carp were so thick and so close I could've kicked 'em with my boot and they wouldn't mind one bit. Too bad I didn't have my net, I could've scooped up probably a couple dozen and left 'em on the bank for fertilizer.

If you want Carp with a bow, walk the south shore line of Willard Bay. Yesterday they were all along there not more than two feet out. Easy access the entire length.


Please be courteous and not leave the spoils on the bank. There is enough trash already. Add some stink and no one will want to get close to it.

From the Utah Fishing Guidebook:

To take nonprohibited nongame fish, you may use angling, traps, archery (excluding crossbows, unless otherwise authorized), dipnets, cast nets, liftnets, seines or a hand-held spear from above the surface of the water. When using these methods, please remember the following rules:
• Seines (nets) may not exceed 10 feet in length or width.
• Cast nets may not exceed 10 feet in diameter (a five-foot radius).

Saw a bunch of pigs cruising the shore at dc. Gonna bring back a bow from my home town in july and get into shootin some of them. Looks like fun. Saw a bunch of rotting carp on the shore, im assuming people left.

But I get his point - and you do this alot. It is nice that you are willing to take the time to check the regs and post a quote. Thanks for doing that - it benefits many. I will suggest when you do you refrain from using that opportunity to belittle someone else.

Recall you jumping my beans for misquoting the mudcat limit off the top of my head, and I was only off by 5. Believe I even stated it as "I think it's about..."
Personally - I'd like to see that limit lifted all together, but that's another story.

Bottom line - keep it civil. Be helpful, but then don't be rude because someone else doesn't have the regs on speed-dial. Is there an app for that?
