Hit Willard again with Kent and one of his neighbors. Willard is still fishing well but it was slower for us than it was last weekend. We were having some technical issues today which is why we probably had less fish today. We also had a hard time finding the wipers though. We ended up with about 15, one crappie, one wiper, one catfish and the rest were walleyes. I've seen fish get hooked on two rods before while baitfishing, but never while using crankbaits trolling on opposite sides of the boat. As I was reeling in a walleye, after about 10 seconds it decided to hit another crankbait. Walleye are already easy to bring in without having two rods bringing them in.
There was really no wind today and even more surprising, there were very few bugs.
Another good day on Willard.

That was one hungry walleye! Nice haul of fish. Looks like dinner is going to be good!

I thought you meant a double the other way around. Freaky - wonder if he meant it, or just slammed 'em both. Well, just goes to show, fish gotta eat, and when they want it - they want it ALL! Frenzy.
Nice day sounds like. No bugs? Now THAT is a bonus!

It was another great day out fishing with Kory and my neighbor. My neighbor fell off the trailer, in the parking lot, and he was still sore when I spoke to him about an hour ago.
That was really strange to see that walleye with two lures in its mouth.
We first tried for crappie; however, apparently we are crappy crappie anglers. Despite ideal fishing conditions, despite trying for about an hour, we managed one landed crappie, one lost fish (likely a crappie) and one break off, definitely not a crappie. I hooked something that was taking plenty of drag and unfortunately went directly under the boat. In an effort to keep it out of the props I kept tightening the drag, and apparently I tightened it just a tad too much. I guess I will have to catch a few crappie (for sturgeon bait) on The Snake River next month. Up there, I have often caught them, two at a time, as fast as I can cast out and reel in.

Sounds like another fine day on the bay, it has been a good start for Willard this year, not sure how much longer it will continue. I've seen the two lures on a fish a bunch of times but not actually looked in the mouth. It is not that uncommon for a wiper to go from one side of the boat to the other but not walleye. In most cases the lure will snag the line on another rod, then slide down to the other lure. Not saying that is what happened on your fish but it is possible.

The same thing happened to my grandson and his girlfriend last Sunday on the Bay, it was a 19 inch eye that went from one planer board lure to the other planer board lure and had them both in his mouth. I was making a turn so I'm not sure if that's what triggered the fish, the inside lure would have slowed down while the other one sped up, hard to know which bait he hit first. Sure made for some conversation in the boat. [fishin]
