Does anyone have any good secret formulas or names of good products to slow down or even clean the carbon deposits or buildup on the plugs? I am looking for a good cleaner?

We used to use a sand blaster in school. Now I have been using a wire brush and I put in new ones every season. Is the deposit brown and looks like varnish? Ron

No black oil deposits on the plugs. I forgot to throw in some emery cloth and lighters. I know to carry spares but honestly got lazy with it.

Might try adding some seafoam to the mix occasionally. It may smoke a bit more but its really good at breaking down carbon deposits. If your getting heavy oil deposits id make sure your mix isnt too rich. If the mix is ok it could be you are getting ring blowby. Either way its good to run a two stroke wide open for a bit after long periods of low speed running/trolling.

Running non ethanol and a bh7s ngk plugs, also I changed the points and it ran like a top all day fishing, Then I had a brain fart and thought lets run it full throttle to clean some gunk out wasn't running great top speed then slowed it down and then it died at idle, Now I can't get it to start it has good spark just no fire, Stumped now for sure, 1975 evinrude 9.9 any help is appreciated

I am no small engine guy but it sounds like something broke loose in the fuel line like gunk of some kind. Jimbo Jump is good at these things maybe he will chime in.

Carb pulled and cleaned found it looks like a spring or clip is ,missing on top of the ( insert the right word of the piece I am explaining). The part that fits into the jet under the arm attached to the float that closes off the jet. Anyway it's missing a clip according to the diagram, However got it running was doing we'll then all of a sudden it quits. Go back out start again starts running again. When setting the points does the throttle position on the handle make a difference, Do I set points to slow on the handle or fast or middle
