Flaming Gorge
#1
I'm planning on heading to the Gorge sometime in September. I have never been there before. I could use some help on where to go and what to use. Not targeting any species specifically. I will not have a boat so any pointers on where to shore fish would be great. Also wanted to hit the Green River any pointers for there too would be much appreciated. Thanks and hopefully i can report back with a bunch of success. PM me if necessary.

It has been a number of years ago, but we used to bank fish off Anvil Draw and do well for nice sized bows. We fished a point where the bottom dropped away pretty fast. Old intell but the location will likely still work. Hopefully Gary or Jim will pipe in and give you an idea. Good luck. J

Sheep Creek can be good in Sept. I have fished in a boat but the people fishing off the bank did good. for Ranbows
on one pole use power bait the other use a tube jig. keep changing till you get the right one.
All kokanee salmon caught from Sept.
10 through Nov. 30 must be immediately
released.

September shore fishing is tough because the water is still pretty warm. You could probably catch a lot of smallmouth bass along most shorelines with crawdad colored jigs and small crank baits. Fish for trout near cooler inlets like Sheep Creek, as mentioned earlier. Lakers are deep. Kokanee are closed. Carp are trash fish. Burbot at night? That might be a possibility, though I've never done it. Cast off steeper rocky banks with baited jigs.
