Fished it on 8/23. They were not running yet. The ones I did get to the boat were smaller and silver, not red. With the rain runoff I couldn't see if they were staging or not.

Have to disagree a little there. Couple weeks back - I was pulling in about 50% pink, and some starting to show hump-backs and hook jaw syndrome. Though I hadn't checked up towards the inlet to see where they were migrating, the transition was underway.
I've been planning to take a hiking venture up that way sometime soon. I'd be surprised if some haven't started to migrate upwards. Though - they don't read calendars! Of the people kind anyway. [inline "Half Limit.jpg"]

The time to see the red ones in the stream is generally the 2nd or 3rd week in September.
When I took Fish Diversity @ USU we went up and counted them. The class does it every year, and keeps a record. We had planned for the 2nd week and pushed it back to the 3rd week the year I did it. [signature] |
