Looking at taking a trip to fish lake this weekend. I have never been there, and looking for a little advice, and help on what I can expect.
Not looking to catch large macs, as I don't have the equipment, unless I go will so light gear. but hey anything is possible.
Thanks

That might not be up to you!!
October is a great time of year to fish Fish Lake. Those large lake trout will be moving into the shallower areas of the lake to spawn. Fishing from shore can be very productive and chances at a big fish are certainly increased! Will you be fishing from shore, or from a boat?
If in a boat, I would probably try trolling the weedline. You should be able to pick up rainbows, splake, and maybe a few lake trout.
Good time of year to be fishing up there...

I am hoping to be in a boat, if rentals are available.
What type of Lures? spoons, spinners, flies, tubes, rapalas etc?

Yes.
If you are lucky, you'll time it right and the DWR will dump a load of rainbow trout in the lake a day or two before you show up. This will get those lake trout into a nice feeding frenzy. Then I'd definitely go with the bigger rapalas!
