Astoria Oregon Buoy 10 Chinook Fishing
#1
If anyone has taken a guided trip there in August and had a great experience, I would love a pm. Looking for a guide who would take 2 people out for the day. Do not want to be in a mixed group situation.

Thanks

David

Good to see you can post again David. Wavewolf makes a trip to that area just about every year and I think Mooncricket was there this year as well. Try sending them a PM if they don't respond to your post or you can use the Search function above to find out the name of the guide they used. Good luck.

[#484848]We usually fish the Tillamook area, but we did fish Astoria a couple of years back with Bill Kremers. He is a good guide in the buoy 10 area and has a nice comfortable boat.[/#484848]
[#484848]If you have never fished buoy 10, you need to find out what is legal to catch and when.[/#484848]
[#484848]If you are after fall Kings, I would think august is a bit early, but you could google him, (Bill Kremers oregon guide service) and give him a call from his number listed on the site.[/#484848]
[#484848]PM sent.[/#484848]
[#484848]Just tell him you only want the two people and he would accomodate that. [/#484848]
[#484848] Also, ask him about specifics on the fish. You can catch certain species on Fridays and Saturdays on some rivers and othe species on other days on other rivers. It's confusing if you have never been there.[/#484848]
[#484848]Be forewarned....... There are Sea Lions in the buoy 10 area and there is a slim chance that they could get your fish before you get it to the boat.[/#484848]
[#484848]If you think you know anything about baseball, forget it,[/#484848]
[#484848]Bill is a walking baseball encyclopedia.[/#484848]

Across the Astoria bridge in Ilwaco Washington, you can contact Pacific Salmon Charters. I know they go our to Buoy 10 but I do not know what it would cost to buy the boat for just 2. They usually have more on the boat. I have used them and can recommend, however I generally go out of Garibaldi, OR (near Tillamook). I don't think Garibaldi Charters goes that far north. Good luck.

If your going in August shoot for mid to late August you will have good number of both Chinook and Coho. It was a good year up there this year so there is a good chance numbers will be less next year. There will be a lot of boats out on the River but if you have a guide you should be good. It's the weekend warriors that you need to worry about.

A guide I can recommend is Eli Rico with Hot Shot Guide Service. He is out of Washington. Good guy.
