I'm going to make one final trip up to Island Park tomorrow to find some ice. Does anyone have any current ice conditions. All I've heard is some second hand info, but I was up that way a couple weeks ago and it looked great.

I drove by the boat ramp near the dam this morning and there were about 8 or 10 people fishing on the ice. They also had two snow machines on the ice with them. I did not walk out so I don't know how thick the ice was.
Be safe and good luck.
Let us know how you do.

I was up there on Thursday. Ice is 26+ inches thick. Fishing was SLOW. 1 bite and 1 17" bow for 5 hours fishing. Scenery was beautiful and sun was shining. No one else out. Very relaxing and good to get out.

Curt,
I didn't walk out so I'm not sure how deep the snow is however we're looking at very warm temps for about a week so I would think it will be getting sloppy.

Curt,
very little snow on the ice at the dam. Maybe couple inches with some deeper spots and clear spots scattered. Probably gets real slick if the sun burns the snow off.

Well, we fished at Lakeside today and had the place to ourselves. We only even saw just a couple of snowmobiles the whole day. We caught 4 nice rainbows, one went 3 pounds. Caught 1 decent sized Kokanee, and one little 6 inch brookie. Then the suckers showed up and they wouldn't leave. All together we landed 18 suckers with an average weight of 3.5 pounds. Yeah, it was too much of a good thing. Needless to say the birds should be happy. The ice is not going to last on that end. It was 8 inches when I drilled but it was bubbling and talking big time. Against the west shore it will be open soon. I expect it will start to rot out with the way the temps are. Sounds like the lower end by the dam has better ice.
