WHEN I WAS YOUNGER I USED TO HEAR ALOT ABOUT PH LEVELS AND SUCH THEY USED TO SELL PH METERS, WITH ALL FRESHWATER FISH THERE ARE SPECIFIC LEVELS THAT ARE CONDUCIVE TO FISH'S ACTIVITY PARTICULARLY WHEN IT COMES TO SPAWNING SEASON. IT IS A COMFORT ZONE WHEN COMBINED WITH WATER TEMP AND OXYGEN LEVELS W/PH LEVELS SHOULD HELP YOU AS A STARTING POINT TO LOCATE THE MOST "PRODUCTIVE" AREAS. THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF PH 101.

SHAKA,
So if I understand you, what msu124's info said is the most active fish is in the 0-4' range. Did I figure this right?

Texas gulf cost fisher.

NOT NECESSARILY IN THE 0-4' RANGE. THERE ARE SOME FACTORS YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT, PH LEVEL IS THE ACIDITY OR AKALINE CONTENT OF THE WATER. ALGAE BLOOMS AND DECOMPOSING BOTTOM, MUDDY WATER OR SILTED BOTTOMS ALL PLAY A FACTOR IN THE THE PH BALANCE. PH LEVELS ALSO VARY THROUGHOUT THE WATER COLUMN. 0-4' MAY BE IDEAL FOR THAT PARTICULAR SITUATION. YOU ALSO HAVE TO KNOW WHAT WAS THE OVERALL DEPTH OF THE AREA FISHED. WHAT TIME OF YEAR (BECAUSE AS I MENTIONED VEGETATION ALSO PLAYS A PART). I HAVE A CHART SOMEWHERE IN MY USELESS STACKS OF MAGAZINES WITH THE IDEAL PH RANGES FOR CERTAIN SPECIES. GOTTA DIG IT OUT.
