Crappie and other warmwater fish

I got my first taste of crappie this ice season and I need more! Any tips on how to catch em? Could I take the tube out to pineview where I caught them this winter and drop a jig down?

I'd like to go fish for more warmwater species although I've never really done it. Willard, Mantua, and Pineview are all within 20 min of my house so I need to take advantage of them! Again, any help would be great.

Rubin for crappie is a blast. Once you find where they are holding the actin will be fast. One spring I found them holding at 8 feet in 12 feet of water. Warm water species from a tube is so much more fun than chasing trout all day. My opinion of course. I have caught white bass, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, crappie, perch, pike, tiger Muskie, and carp all from a toon or tube. Going for cats this year.[]

We caught a bunch at Pine View a few years ago. Fishing at night straight out from the Cemetery marina. Using jigs, small lures, even fly fishing. Lots of fun fast action. Not sure what month it was but it was raining and still warm.

I'm a little out of touch because I haven't done it for years, but spring is good for me with crappies.

The problem with crappie most of the year is that they head out and suspend somewhere and you need a boat and sonar to find them.

If you hit the shallows around and cover in the spring, sometime between now and May, and the water temp is right, they cluster up in any flooded weeds and willows, rocks, water plants, or logjams. A float tube and a quiet approach on a day after a couple warm days will get you into em.
