not skunked at Willard
#1
Woke up at 4:30. Excited to get the Willard Spring Skunk on, So I could look forward to the Summer Willard Skunk... Left the house on time to pick up my fish bud at 6:00; however the GPS in my truck lead me to the wrong house across town in Ogden. Typical for my skunk day I thought. Finally picked up my smelly partner at 6:30, no problem it is still dark out. When we are about to get on the freeway he tells me he forgot the new tackle he bought last night...Typical, again... We went back and got to the lake and launched around 9:00. We headed straight to the west south corner at 40 mph. At least I'm happy the boat is running smooth. Fished up the west side close and far with nothing biting. Around 10:30 we headed for the middle and something new happened. My buddy got a large Wiper! over 4 lbs. Then I got a Walleye 20 inches. Then we both got Wipers. Cool game on, somehow the stars lined up or the fish gods took pity on us. We had to leave at 2:00, but ended up with 6 Wipers (2 over 4lbs) 1 Walleye. Not bad for three hours in the middle.
Guess I'll have to wait till summer for that Willard Skunk, or till next week..

Crazy how days start then end. You got some nice fish.

It sounds like you had a good morning at least until you started to have to pull the pesky aquatic fish off your hook.[Wink] Better luck next time.

Very nice! Willard has been pretty good the last week or two! I hope this May weather holds out and fishing stays hot!

Never found Willard to be a 'must arrive early to get that first bite' kind of water and its great that in the end you did well and hey, the boat (and gear) is checked out for the season - and the season is still young!
