This is just a follow-up to an earlier thread. Daytime flows are down a little to 1650. The BWO's are still popping around 12:30pm, with some midges before, and more midges toward evening. Lots of fish up eating #18's and #20's, the smaller and sparser, the better. Look for fish along the banks (right off the trail!), as well as the back eddies and normal holding pools. The ones in faster and/or broken water are easier to fool than those in the slower flat pools. The bank feeders will eat your first cast if its on 'em. A very long leader to 5x or 6x tippet, and some para adams, griffith gnats, RS2's, or whatever your favorite BWO and midge dries are will get it done.

I just got back from down there this afternoon, and it was nuts! BWO's all over, heads up all over, and fairly easy pickings. Still had to get a good drift, but they were eatin' all afternoon big time. The magic of April cloudy, cool days.

Will this hatch hold for a while? Heading up on the 18th.

It usually holds throughout April. But . . . this is a "wierd" year in that we never really had winter and things have been a little ahead of schedule. I'd be surprised if you didn't have a hatch on a cloudy early afternoon though. That's when they pop. Its only a week away, so you should be good even on a sunny day.
