Yesterday evening I got out with a couple of guys wanting to do some topwater before dark and also some spinnerbait fishing after dark. This was going to be a half day trip but it was a fun and productive short time on the water. We started out using Zell-Pops around grass edges and had a blast with the fish blowing these baits out of the water, and after losing a bunch of fish in the grass, especially one very big one that put on a good show after coming off, we were able to put a few in the boat. Then.....It was dark and it was time for some "Hammering" of the spinnerbaits. They got to find out real quick just how hard the fish, even the small ones can hit at night. We only had a short time so we covered a lot of areas to find the most aggressive fish and after a few slow stops we finally got into some good quality, and lost some good quality fish which made for an absolute fun and productive night on the water. It's just hard to beat the feel of a big Choo Choo Lures spinnerbait at night being slow-rolled through the grass with a sensitive and stout heavy action Hammer Rod, along with 20 lb. Vicious line. This is just a fantastic combination. Get out and have fun, Mike Carter
