Introducing myself
#1
My dad showed me this website and I have found it pretty helpful so I thought I would add some posts and comments and also try to get further tips on fishing. I love fishing Lake Powell for the stripers, catfish, and large mouth bass. I fish Willard a lot since its close to home and I usually go for the Wipers and Walleye. I also bow hunt carp and try to thin the schools at Willard and Utah Lake. I am trying to catch all the different species of fish in Utah with my dad. We started new and have caught 10 fish (channel catfish, bullhead catfish, striper, wiper, brown trout, rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, green sunfish, yellow perch, and the white bass) its been a fun journey. My wife and I are headed up to the Unitas by mirror lake and trial lake, any good tips or different species I can try and go for up there?

Welcome to BFT! You have started on an awesome journey. For the Unitas you will find rainbow trout, brook trout, tiger trout, cutthroat trout, and grayling. Just depends upon the lake you're fishing in. I will move this to the Utah main board so that others will know you are here.

We were just up at trial a week and a half ago. We did by far the best at Washington. We fished the south part of the lake next to the dam. There is a point with one old dead tree on it. That was the spot. We caught rainbows and Tigers with worms and powerbait. I caught two brookies on back to back casts with a mosquito fly behind a bubble, that was at crystal Lake. Caught a few at trial on/near the dam but not as many as at Washington. From my experience only the rainbows will eat the powerbait. Fun for the kids. Tigers and brookies will take worms and flies.

Last year before I started my goal to catch all the different species, I caught tons of crappie. This year however I never went to Willard during their spawning time, other stuff going on, so no I don't have that checked off the list yet
