New to Boise Area
#1
Heya,

I just recently relocated to the Boise area and don't know much about the fishing here. Anyone up for giving me a few tips and tricks? Most of my experience has been with bait and luring fishing for rainbows around Idaho Falls and American Falls for fish 12-16"+. I've never fished for catfish, bass, bluegill or Kokanee but wouldn't mind any advice on how to go about it here for sure. Don't have a boat so I'll strictly be shore fishing. I've heard good things about the Boise River, Lake Lowell and Lucky Peak but does anyone got tips on places to try to hit and what kind of bait or lure you'd recommend at around what times? I'd be most appreciative. Smile

Welcome to the area. Grab a tub of worms and just start exploring. After you explore a bit then we can help you dial it in. Tight line.

If you have facebook go check out SWIF group.
The Boise river has some big trout in it. South fork of Boise is managed as a trophy stream. The middle fork when not blown out has some nice rainbow and cutthroat and the occasional bull trout "release". North fork can be pretty good too.
Do you have a boat??
Swan falls is a popular place to go for smallmouth bass, catfish and sturgeon.
Good luck and have fun.
