The fish were sneaky today! tons of bites, lots of stolen worms, quite a few caught fish. Below is the breakdown, we could have caught more fish, but ran out of worms (theiving fish)
Fished 9am to 12pm
2.5 fisherman (nephew is 8 and gets bored so he ends up searching for lures on the bank.)
7 bows 3 Tigers with worms
2 bows with Lil Jakes lure.
1 bow with a small minnow jig.
3 bows sinking power bait.
I couldn't believe the fish were nailing the Jakes lure! It was a lot of fun tossing it out and actually getting bites.
Most of the fish were 8 inches or so. 4 were decent 12 inches, I landed a killer 14 inch bow. Not giant, but my personal best for the Uintahs.
It was a fun day for sure.
One last thing, any tips for setting the hook. Too many times, my bobber would go under, I'd set the hook, and the fish would get off. I think it was because I was using a new bobber I picked up that is more buoyant, and the fish could feel the weight. It got better once I swapped back to my usual bobber, but I was still missing plenty of fish. I'm using a number 8 hook, is it too small?
