Clearwater Cast and blast
#1
Headed to Clearwater country with friends and family for a cast and blast weekend. Saturday we put in at Peck and quickly hooked into a wild steelhead. Shortly after that deer were spotted above us. Two of us jumped out and put a stalk on them. 20 minutes later I had a doe down. When it rolled down into some bushes it spooked a medium buck out the bottom. Unfortunately my companion wasn't in position for a shot since we'd split up. Spent the next hour fighting that deer out of the brush in the draw. We then went back to fishing and managed a total of ten steelhead for the day but only one keeper. Day two we put in at Lenore and fished for a bit again landing a wild one. Again deer were spotted and chased. None were dropped though and we went back to fishing a bit more sore. We continued to catch six fish and kept two yesterday. Weather went bad after leaving so Winchester and whitebird were practically white out conditions. Fortunately it improved a lot after that. Overall a fun weekend.

I've been around. Just haven't gotten out enough or had much to add to the discussions. Hopefully that will change this year.

sounds like a great weekend! I wasn't too far away trying to pull off the same thing. I did manage to put a doe in the freezer, but I wasn't able to get a hit out of the south fork CW. there were other fishermen that did, though. Congrats on a fine weekend!
