Hyrum Res for Newbies

Took a neighbor family up ice fishing for their first time. Chose Hyrum because of the better reports I'd heard coming from there. I wasn't looking for monster fish, just lots of action and plenty of action we got! We caught 42 perch and fished from 1:30 to 4pm in 15'-20' of water. Yes, the edges are getting dicey but there was an easy spot to hop on by the boat ramp. With a warm tent (hardly needed today), hot cocoa, plenty of snacks, and lots of perch made for a great first experience. As a bonus, no little ones stepped in a hole(although from experience I always bring a bag of extra clothes just in case)! Also my girl solo caught her first fish on her new PINK POLE & REEL! I live for days like today.
