Bear Lake Monday
#1
Just throwing an invite out... I've never iced fished Bear Lake but would love to. Reading a few reports and it's got me wanting to find a few lakers, or anything that will bite. I'd like to go and I've got Monday off work. I'd prefer to go with someone who knows the area, more for safety than anything. But if anyone wants to go Monday I'd be game for an outing. PM me if needed. Im in Logan

If your looking for safety on BL, you will not find it this time if year. There is risk and work involved.
I've also read all the reports the past two weeks, most are desperate attempts to look like they know what's going on, lol
I've fished BL almost every day since New Years, and I personally know the only guy who actuall has fished it every day this new year. And conditions change every day , literally , we ice fished it Monday , and was on good ice, that had turned sketchy yesterday. Wednsday, we iced fished the east side, wich was open water Sunday, but fished out of a boat Friday and yesterday .
All I'm trying to say is, conditions are changing so much, you really can't put together a plan until you are there to figure out the safest risk involved. Winds and temps above freezing tells me to weary of ice right now....... Not trying to keep you away, you had just mentioned safety
Pugstones will also post current conditions

If that helps in any way

You are right, there are areas to ice fish, south end and east side. All I'm saying is, it has changed daily. Conditions will be warming up too.

I appreciate the tips. I would really only want to go with someone who had been recently. I don't know the lake well. No fish is worth risking my life for. That being said I realize the conditions on that lake can change rapidly. I would like to give it a go if conditions are right and had some company.

Thanks Mike that sounds great!!! How far does the ice shelf extend over there? Far enough to get into trout waters? As a kid I remember laying on the ice fishing for whitefish as the Cisco run would wrap up it was so fun. Hope I can do that this year. Thanks for the great intell and hope we do get to see ya. Maybe Friday will be less stress than your Saturday will be with all your events. Good luck. J

I'd be up for a trip. The only day I could go is Saturday. Just let me know and I'll see what I've got going on. Thanks for the invites!

PS I hit Hyrum this morning in the rain.... I hate rain in January. Perch were active throughout the morning. Called it quits around 11:30.

I'll get back with you closer to the weekend when I know what I'm doing. Sorry about the rain today that makes ice fishing a little miserable. Snow would have been better. Catch ya later J
