My son and I fished Saturday, at the Rock pile till noon usual bait with some real fish food on the jig... Had one hit!! Figured about 50 people around us. We saw three fish caught. Left at noon and went too the east side. We never fished just watched and talked to people. Some fish caught but very slow, was just beautiful day just not much catching

Fished big blue this morning until about noon, a few small hits but nothing to write home about! Hoping to hit it again for the next few mornings but not holding out a lot of hope, everything seems to have slowed to a crawl.

Oh I'm so sorry, that had to be a let down.
From the reports maybe it's not all bad though. Sounds like things slowed down a bunch. Will watch for the midweek report. Best of luck. J

I'll bet it won't hurt that's for sure. When we went out Friday morning the trail was really soft and unpacked like very few folks had been on the trail before and when we left it was way more beat down. So when things settle down a bit, I'll bet the fishing improves. Have fun. J

I don't feel so bad now, reading some of the other posts. We fished just south of Gus rich point yesterday and had exactly the same luck as described previous. I assumed it was because we weren't on the "X" at the Rock pile, but maybe that wasn't the entire reason. Hooked one early AM and lost it after a few short seconds. Worked our guts out most the rest of the day trying every lure/bait combination and depth we could think of. Only a few short, quick bites to show for it. The fish finder showed plenty of fish, some singles, some in schools. most all had serious lock jaw. They would study both my offerings for a while and go. on the sonar we did see what I'm guessing to be a ball of baitfish I assume to be Cisco, with a bigger fish not far behind. Maybe eating too good?? I don't know, Remo sleeping in may have been your best bet.

Curious if you tried dropping right back down to it?

We fished this morning just off cisco beach. We were able to catch 6 whitefish and one stinky carp. These were all caught in about 20 feet of water. I also had a couple light bites out in 80 feet of water, but didn't get chance to reel one in.

Nice fish Larry, looks like you were up by Lavaman... Sounded like it was slow for him up that way.
Kent, don't know if you will see this where I didn't reply to your post, but when I missed hits, I'd drop back down and most of the time I didn't get a second strike right away, but a few times I did... I think I had mostly white fish around me so they may not act like the trout.. I think if they didn't get it and felt the hook they were smart enough to leave it alone... because I didn't have them follow up hits like others had been mentioning... Also I think the reason I missed so many hits was because they were whitefish and I had a fairly large offering so I don't think they could get it in their mouths very well.. However, that first fish was impressive, I had a big honking treble hook on my kastmaster with a piece of cisco on it, and that whitefish sucked it in and I hooked it with all three hooks inside it's mouth... Hard to believe it even fit in the mouth... anyway sorry didn't mean to highjack the post... Later J

Yes, I did. Was the only fish that acted very agressive. It hit a couple times before I actually hooked it, and was willing to come back after a missed hook set. Reminded me of your post a week ago!
As luck would have it, that pole was rigged with 8lb fluoro. too much stretch at that depth, Like a rubber band. Too bad it didn't hit my other setup rigged with braid/ fluoro. Oh well, maybe next time I'll give em a sore lip.
