My son has been up there a lot in the last few weeks. He says there is a lot of snow, and at least ankle deep slush on top of the ice. The is around 10-12" though.
May not be a great place to take younger kids. They will probably get really wet.

Thanks Elkoholic for the heads-up on the slush .[cool] Might have to rethink the place to take them.

just got back from Hyrum at the beach entrance. At 3:30 the ice was hard no slush. I guess there is a good side to these cache valley inversions. It was cold with light fog and a light breeze. The bite was better in the am as always.

Bites have been really soft. I use a green glow in the dark rat fink tipped with worm. Perch are right of the bottom. Trout are all over the place this year and are very few. It seam that I only get one or two each time I go but get plenty of perch.

Went last night/mid afternoon...No slush, was all frozen and wavy on the surface. Ice thickness was 13"! Unless it warms dramatically, have the kids wear boots that are waterproof to be safe...great ice and I have done well fishing there this seasons so far! Lots of perch to keep them happy, and many 'bows too! I say take them, and have fun! the shoreline is as solid as its been all season long as well.
