Pontoon help
#1
I bought my son a pontoon for Christmas, so of course I had to get one too.
I bought an older Sportsmans Warehouse toon off KSL. My problem is the valve adapter. The adapter to the pump fits my sons toon just fine. I can not get the adapter to work with mine. I can get it to fit over the pop up valve body, but when I turn it to lock it in place, it's just loose and wont make a good seal. All the air I'm pumping is blowing past the valve. Are there different types of valves, or am I missing something here????

[#0000FF]There are several valves that look similar but have different "hookups". Can you post a picture of the two valves or adaptors?

The good news is that there are lots of places to get replacement valves. And there are pumps that will work on most without having to use an adaptor.

I have had the same problem. You can get a hose I use a radiator type. It will seal and enable you to inflate the pontoon.

Yes they do have a different adapter, I forget the name of the company that builds those toons, I think it's Outcast, but I called them and they sent me a couple adapters, for a reasonable price... Maybe someone else can confirm this info... Later J

Here's a couple pictures of the valves and same adapter. Also, one of the cap on my toon with the adapter showing the length of the legs. Mine is the green one, the one that's not working properly. I can force the adapter on the green tube, and turn the fitting to lock it. Once it's locked, I can move the fitting in and out about 1/16 of an inch.

Must not be the right adapter, mine works great. I think that lead in angle at the sealing area is the problem, plus the reverse rotation to the plug might be an issue as well. The suggestion of going to Sportsmans and getting an adapter is probably the easiest and after shipping it will be close to the same price. Plus they will get you the correct part. Later J
