Downrigger molds
#1
Does anyone have a set of 10# or 12# down rigger ball molds they would part with for a decent price? I picked up a pile of lead and am trying to make some down rigger balls on the cheap.

I've bought a bunch of DR balls from this member:

Another member worked out a deal with him a few years back where he exchanged lead for some DR balls, send him a PM and see what he has to say. Not sure about the 12 lb balls but I know he makes 10 lbers.

10 to 12 lbs ball are way to heavy in my opinion , i use 8 pound fish style at the gorge at all depths and like them a lot . i have gone as low as 6 lbs with no ill affect.

The gorge is all I fish and a 10 is where I start, would prefer a pancake as well as it seems to track better. I do not like tangled messes with lines crossing and if I fish past 60 feet and turn even remotely fast, disaster awaits with those light down rigger balls. The light down rigger balls also make it more of a guess as to what depth you are actually at, especially if you're trolling at a speed where they hang back past where your sonar will pick them up.

Thanks for the info. I may give him a call if I can't find a mold for cheap.

I could agree more! The heavier the better. Especially at the Gorge.

I have never had any problem with lines crossing ,and I always know where my down rigger balls are because I can see them on my sonar but to each his own good luck.
