planning a trip in a few weeks to Joe's Valley to get after some Tiger Musky. what im wondering is can one use dead whole Anchovies at Joe's Valley to fish for Tigers? site specific rules make no mention of it:
Joes Valley Reservoir, Emery County
• Limit 4 trout, only 1 trout may be over
18 inches.
while the rules for Pineview specify you cannot :
Pineview Reservoir, Weber County
• CLOSED to the possession of tiger muskie.
All tiger muskie must be immediately
released.
• Unlawful to use whole fish for bait. Cut
baitfish must not be larger than one inch
in any dimension and no more than one
piece per hook.
any tips for a first timer fishing Joes would be welcome as well....
another note: Rules show Mill Meadows Res. has Tigers, any substantial population worth fishing for??
just want to make sure im in accordance to Utah laws before i try draggin around some meat behind the boat while casting '

Are you mistaking tiger trout for tiger musky? I wasn't aware Joe's had tiger musky in it, but it does have tiger trout....

As long as they are dead & not a game fish, I see no problem with anchovies.
Musky limit 1 over 40"
Tips for musky= 1 in 1,000,000,000 casts.
Mill Meadow was drained, no musky left. (correct me if I am wrong)

No mistake made. Tiger musky are in Joe's Valley.
If not specified, then there is no restriction.
Statewide rules apply (1 over 40")
Mill Meadow may have been drained, but specific rules still apply (basically, keep all you catch). This is because tm's are stocked in Johnson Reservoir, upstream from Mill Meadow. They do not want tm's migrating downstream.
Johnson Reservoir is basically the same as Joe's Valley (1 over 40").

The tiger muskie that are in Mill Meadow are just the ones that come from Johnson Reservoir so there have never been very many of them in there.

looking to explore some new waters this year and anything with Esox swimming in them are on my radar.

last year I used green and white spinner bait 1/2 oz. landed 1 that was 35in. and lost another right at the boat that was bigger than 35in. we had about 15 fallows.

Just wondering when are you going? I'm be there in about 2 weeks not sure if I'm planning on going to joes valley but now knowing musky is in there well anything is possible. What's the best trick to fish for them. There on my bucket list but don't know how to even fish for them

early season we'll be throwing alot of Jerkbaits , the previously mentioned spinner baits and crankbaits
cast til your arm falls off, troll for a while, cast some more...
never fished this lake so we'll be looking to cover alot of water , running and gunning

You left out two very important pieces of information in regards to that regulation: Newton Reservoir and Pineview Reservoir.
The regulation only applies to those specific reservoirs.
Joe's Valley has no such regulation.
The only regulation that applies to Joe's Valley and Tiger Musky is the statewide regulation of "1 over 40 inches".
