Strawberry Sat 6/4
#1
I fished Strawberry bay today and did OK. My electric motor gave out so I just anchored up. I tried casting a few lures, but couldn't get much action. After seeing a few on the sonar I started vertically jigging a tube, and started getting hits. I stayed in the same area and jigged most of the day, it felt like ice fishing from the boat.

I tried several different tubes, white, greens, red/brown, nothing seemed great but I caught a few on each one I tried. There were fish all over, but most bites came in the 25-35 ft range. They were a bit finicky, and I missed quite a few. But I landed 2 rainbows and 12 or so slot cutthroats.

Coming back I trolled a small perch Rapala. I was on the main motor and not really expecting anything, and going 2.5 mph a cutthroat hit hard! My pole bent so far I though it was going to crack! I had 6lb leader, and I'm kind of surprised it held. It wasn't as big as I was thinking when I saw the hit, but it was nice one to end the day.

That sucks about your motor man! You probably heard me out there...the loud duckboat that sounds like a Harley scooting across the water.
Wasn't super fast fishing, but was able to get into some decent kokes, bows and of course, slot cutts.

We fished the same area yesterday and could not get much action casting tubes beyond one slot cutt. We then trolled the same area for five hours and caught 20 more fish. Most of the fish were caught high in the water column on mono lines. The leaded line rod out the same distance and with the same setup only picked up three fish and they were all small cutts under 15".
