Went out to the south marina this morning. When I came back in they were assembling a barge in the marina. I talked to a couple of DWR guys. They're getting ready to dump 500 tons of rocks and boulders for habitat. Without all those shore fisherman buying licenses, projects like this wouldn't be possible.

I seen the barge sitting in the parking lot the last couple weeks, Wondered what exactly they were doing.
About 2 years ago I remember them saying they were going to make a "reef" type deal for habitat.

They should have took advantage of the low water and scooped all rocks sticking out in the marinas and around the banks.

I think this is great! I've always wished the DWR would work on some lake habitat projects. I think Pineview could use a few artificial reefs as well.

I am excited to hear that the project is moving forward. Some of the funds were provided by the Rocky Mountain Anglers Club through habitat improvement grants and fund raisers if I remember correctly. I am a member of the RMA but I cant remember all the details, seems like the club started working with the DWR like 3 years ago on this project.

Good to see some improvements being made there.

My son and I were out there yesterday also. Wondered what that heavy lift crane and all the heavy gauge dock was all about. Anybody know WHERE this new habitat is going to be? Would sure like to "waypoint" it once it's done so I don't "find" it accidently some year when the water level is low (like, later this summer [pirate] )
