I went to Willard and caught my first wiper. It was 18" and weight 3 1/2 pounds. I was trolling 3 mph with a blue and silver rattletrap #5 in 10 foot of water off the light pole dike.

Congrats! I see that resembles a technique I gave out a week or so ago. were you trolling the north dike or the west dike. I always liked using it on the north dike because of how the dike drops off quickly and there is a nice shelf below the dike and then drops again. PM me and I will give you another option on trolling the dike. If you only caught one then they might be on that lower shelf. I have another method when they are on it or near the bottom of the dike.
