:( rapala scatter rap :(
#1
Had a fish hit a scatter rap a couple days ago at Otter Creek and the bill broke off. It broke off at the body and pulled 2 small pieces of plastic with it.
It was not any thing diff. from any of the other hits. (2 lbs rainbow)
This was a new lure and had not caught any fish.
Have any of you folks had problems with them? This is the only scatter rap that I have bought and liked the action, but? I've fished the other rapalas for years and not had this problem.

I did have the same thing happen but not sure it was a fish that caused it. I caught my biggest wiper on one of those at Willard--but I digress. I contacted Rapala and sent the broken lure back. They sent me a replacement no questions asked. I think there may have been an online form. I guess those wide lips take some pretty good sideways forces. Good luck!

I was thinking of sending it in. Glad they treated you right. I think I will just send it in with a note and see if they will take care of it.

Thanks

I've had several Rapala lures have had the bills blown off in the last few years. It seems like their quality is sliding a bit while the price continues to go up and up. They do catch fish, but their quality is tanking IMO. Fred K.

I used to use the balsa raps a lot but after losing three bills I'll pay more for one quality lure than two that might break. The quality just isn't the same anymore, I grew up using rapalas so I'll always have some in a box but I don't use them very often anymore.

Have they been just the scatter rap or diff. ones?
This is the only one I've had this happen to. Coarse some of the ones I still use are 45 yrs old.

Flat Raps, and BX Minnows have been the ones that I've had issues with. Fred K.
