Thought I'd give a quick report on Scofield earlier today. Decided to brave the snow storm and gave myself plenty of time to arrive safely. Got there and set up about 7:30. Fished for about 5 hours with lots of action on anything tipped with a night crawler. Not much interest in meal worms. Non stop wind. Ice was 5-6". Fished in 15 FOW. Caught a pile of chubs to fillet for bait and threw back all the skinny cutts. What a blast to be back out on the ice again!!

Hey thanks for keeping those chubs. They are great cut bait. That is a long way for me to go for a bait run but I keep thinking I might as well. Your experience is similar to mine. Skinny trout and chubs. It is like a broken record...

Unless you have moved, it is a lot closer for you than it is for me (I live near Bountiful). I have made that run for bait and consider it worth the trip. If one adds up how much minnows cost in the stores it is a better return on your gas dollars than most fishing trips.

I just talked with my Freind, he's pretty busy cutting up all the chubs they caught today! He will have plenty of bait for strawberry this year! He said all the cutts were in the 12" range. He Fished in the dam arm of the lake. He said he seen a group close by with no ice tent and felt bad for them in the high winds.. Ice was around 6"..

Nope I'm still in the same place Kent and you are correct. It isn't as long of a drive for me. I just checked and all I have left is some perch meat...and not much of it. I gotta figure out a day for a quick run then. Chubs are great cut bait for cats and others...

I too need a chub bait trip. Any interest in teaming up one evening? My kiddos don't care what species they catch and I love to get them in a good quantity of fish early in the season. Set the year off right.

Maybe we can figure something out. The temps are getting warmer up there. I'm a big chicken so unless there is 4 inches of good ice, this fat boy don't go out.
