Southeast Idaho perch and crappie?
#1
I posted this question in the Idaho BFT form but figured it wouldn't hurt to post on the utah side as well. I live in Tremonton so this winter I would like to head up into Idaho and Target some panfish. Specifically perch and crappie. I have not finished Idaho yet so I'm pretty unfamiliar with the reservoirs. Does anybody have any suggestions as far as techniques or specific bodies of water where I can find perch and crappie and be successful? I'd like to stay in the southeast region of the state if that's possible. Any information or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I haven't ice fished it yet, but I know in the summer that Glendale just out side of preston has nice sized crappie and decent sized perch.

Haven't fished it this year, but Twin Lakes on the west side of Preston also had some really nice perch last time I fished it... We were catching 10-13" perch even while we were trolling for trout.. pretty good numbers of perch too... But that was when you could still have a boat on Twin... Oneida also had fair perch up there, but they were hard for me to find, but when I did I got a fair number of fish....

Anyway there are a few places to try... If you stay in state, Hyrum has perch, but they were small last winter 7-8".... I'm hoping they got a little bigger by this winter... Mantua has some nicer sized perch and I'm sure you have read about the nice perch they are catching from Willard this fall/winter... Plenty of places to try, seems like the quality spots are low in numbers caught, but places like Hyrum you can catch a ton, but not many big enough to be worth filleting... so good luck... J
