hit the ice at 8 30 on the south east side. ice was 5 inches. walked to the edge of the white ice and about got to test my new ice suit... punched right threw and ice started cracking in every direction. backed up fast with a pucker... went back and fished in 9 to 12 ft. rainbows were hitting.the clearer ice is not safe yet....

Guess the word Is out. I was out pretty far, hoping to fish the west bank but there was a small ridge of ice that had me suspicious. Was pretty much in the middle in 40 fow. Plenty of bows cruising just under the ice to about 12 down. Perching was consistent until about 10 am, then they got picky. Waxes, perchmeat , and eyeballs to tip gold/green halo jigs and size 10 glow ice flies. Mostly on the bottom, but was getting them to come 8 feet off bottom. Bunch of drinks, some meduims. Had 1 almost jumbo that came up on a double, but unhooked at the hole. Worst ice I found was at the boat ramp...4 inches and cracked a little when drilled. Stronger ice is there, just drill test holes. Be safe out there.
