The Boy Scouts from our district will be to Rockport (by the inlet) for their annual Klondike derby next weekend. I've been told Ice Fishing may be part of the trip. Provided they stay away from the inlet, is the ice safe?
Thanks in advance for your help.

It sounds like the edges are questionable, but i have friends on the ice as we speak with no problems.

Do you know if your friends had to bring a plank to get on the ice?

No Plank, they walked right on at the boat ramp with no issues

We walked right on at the boat ramp. It was 10 degrees when we got there. The ice was good everywhere except a couple of small pockets where McDonald's helped me break through the crust. We were south of the boat ramp and it was slow. The only two marks I saw hit. No fish on the ice. ICE where we were was 7-8 inches
