Finally got the boat set up and ready for the water. Got launched at the south marina about 8:30 AM Friday. Main purposes of hitting the water yesterday was to 1: Make sure TinCan still floats - it does. 2: Start learning how to use the new Lowrance Hook 7 Sonar / GPS / Down Scan unit I installed - will take several more trips to get familiar with it but it seems to work quite well. 3: And because I have a new sonar / GPS unit, I had to start saving all my waypoints again. Not too difficult with the new Hook 7. Got several of my waypoints around the south end of the Bay, the Island, the Lite Pole, etc. saved. Just on a "what the heck" slow trolled a couple cranks between the south outlet and the island. Water temp still a bit cold I think. 48 deg at 9:30 AM. Photo of the new sonar shows 8:30 AM, but that was before I reset it for local time. Found a good 13-15 fow over the island, and was anchored in-between the "Stay Out" buoys trying to temp something to bite on Mussels (only bait I took with me). No luck, but from what I read that has been pretty much the common answer so far at WB. I did meet up out there with BFT member BFM (Brian) in his brand new Lund. Nice lookin vessel there Brian, and good to meet and talk awhile.
I wasn't completely skunked yesterday, I did manage to boat a Willard Bay Rock Fish..................[sly]
I think I read something about TD managing one awhile back also. But it was a BEAUTIFUL day, and now Tin Can is water ready, will be on WB regularly.

Thanks for the post. I'll keep an eye on how your like the new Lowrance. I need to start looking for something modern to replace the 25 year old one as I get more into fishing.

Tin-Can,
It was nice to meet you. Friday was a beautiful day to be out on the water. My Sonar agrees with yours, water temperature in the morning was 47*, at around 4:30 pm it was 50*.
The water was perfect for breaking-in the new boat. I didn't fish at all. My main focus was breaking in the motor according to the owners manual. I was on the water from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm.

[#800000]I'm going to have to do that with my new ThunderJet in April. A 150 & a 9.9 Mercury that I'll need to put 10 hours each on. I don't know if I'll do it all in one day. I'm thinking 2 days at 5 hours for each of them, although I might be able to run them simultaneously.[/#800000]

Brian, yes it was nice to meet and talk Friday. Sorry I got your initials wrong in my post from Friday. Like I said, I have a hard time remembering names sometimes, but I'm pretty good about remembering boats. Especially nice ones like your new Lund. I know you will enjoy that boat for many years.

chayden, had a 10 year old Fish Elite on the boat since it was new in 2007. Decided it was time step up a bit in the electronics. So far I like that new Lowrance Hook 7. And got a good deal on it at Cabela's couple weeks ago.
