Are the smallies biting? What's the latest fishing report? Did the Feds approve a new dam?

The proposed dam below Oneida was rejected from the Feds last year. http://www.prestoncitizen.com/news/local...1226a.html

I have fished the reservoir from shore and from a boat this spring and it is very slow. The smallies are not biting yet and neither are the walleye. The first time on the boat the water temp was a balmy 47 degrees the second it was the same and that was last week. We're just gonna have to wait for warmer temperatures.

Thanks for the information. It's been a cool spring so don't imagine the water temp to be up enough for the smallies to bite. Probably start to warm in the later part of May. Always fun to fish the Narrows.

Ive been pulling the SMB out since march the walleye are going to be a majority way above the reservoir this time of year it is their spawning season. I went after them beginning of april got a few. Find the carp and you will find the eyes. They are sucking up the eggs as fast as they can. Most of the bass came on a #4 clouser in white and olive.

Thanks for the report. The warm weather this week will certainly improve the fishing and bring the water temp up. Can't wait to get some time on the Narrows. I'm having to wait until June because I'm going to the British Isles for three weeks. The SMB should be real active by then.

You mentioned the Carp eating the Walleye eggs and that is totally disgusting. I sure wish there was a way to get the Carp numbers down. Every time I fish the Narrows I see thousands of them. I don't know for sure, but it appears they are the dominate species in the lake.

Have you been catching any 12" SMB?

The boat launch by the damn is one big mud hole. Springs or a broken pipe are coming up right in the road. Looks like the local redneck population have helped to waller out the hole so you can't get through. Looked pretty tough to launch a boat last week when i was up there. Any body know if/when they plan to fix it?

Most of the bass were small less than 12" got a few over 12 but not many. As for road being fixed i sure hope soon. Im sure they will have it going before memorial weekend thats a big money weekend for them. It should start filling again soon.

I'd like to go after some smallies. Have been there a couple of times but now I have a boat. Will have to go check the ramp.

Bass limit at Onieda are 6 of any size. They want people to keep them to thin the herd a bit so that the size comes up.
